Duffy’s Cut Mass Grave Petition

April 12th, 2012

Our song ‘The Hardest Mile‘ is about the 57 Irish immigrant workers who died from Cholera while building a railroad line outside Philly back in 1832. The line they were building is now part of the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Main Line. Irish immigrant laborers back then were considered expendable.

These men were buried in a mass grave, which is known as ‘Duffy’s Cut.’ They were most likely murdered – either to stop the spread of Cholera on the crew, or to avoid paying them. Either way, the record of the deaths was kept quiet until it was found in 1970. Over the years, an archaeological dig has been set up at the site. Researchers have found evidence of blunt trauma to skulls.

Through the efforts of a growing group of people, some of the remains have now been properly buried, to give these men and their work building one of this country’s important rail lines the dignity they deserve. AMTRAK has recently come to the table, and the Duffy’s Cut group is looking to Congressman Gerlach for support too.

Let’s show OUR support now!

Apology from Al Barr

March 28th, 2012

hey everybody -

al barr here – i just wanted to address the negative comment that i made. first off, i’d like to apologize for using the term that i did. by no means did i intend for it to cause any hurt or harm, i now fully realize how insensitive it was.

having grown up within a very diverse punk scene, i have many gay friends. i would never want to hurt anyone’s feelings with my comments.

i did not mean anything by this and now understand it is a word that i should not have used and will not use in the future. please accept my sincere apologies.

my band and i are any anything but homophobic and our 16 year track record proves that we stand up for human rights and fight against injustices towards all people.

thanks for your time and support, and again, please accept my sincere apologies.
